8 members of the Senior Classes of Miltonvale and Glasco visited the North Central Kansas Technical College in Beloit on Thursday. It was Senior Day at the college. They welcomed over 120 Seniors from around the state of Kansas that had an interest in some sort of technical career.
Attending were Cody Denio, Justus Golightley, and Steven Mahin from Miltonvale High School and Randy Ryals, Frank Waite, Abbi Cox, Percilla Gilmore, and Tyler Pinnell from Glasco High School.
The students took a tour of the Campus, listened to Dave Hughes talk about the different careers that they could enter, and listened to information from Mr. Hughes about financial aid to go to college. Every potential student that came got a 250 dollar scholarship and 2 students got an additional 500 dollar scholarship in a drawing. All of the students got other gifts like t - shirts, hats, cups, and pins for attending.
Everyone was treated to a very good lunch provided by the college. It included steak, potatoes, mexican style corn, fresh bread, and salad. The meal was very good!
The goal of the trip was to try to inform our students about opportunities in the various technical fields and to give them information about the cost of college and how they can pay for college.
It was a fun, but also, an educational day for the Southern Cloud Seniors.
