Warriors Improve But Lose To Knights!

Coach Hatfield

In a very up tempo game the Lakeside Knights were able to out run the Southern Cloud Warriors 50 – 40 on Monday night.  The Knights out 3 balled the Warriors 3 -1 in the contest.  The Warriors made several runs at the Knights, getting to within 5 points at one point in the 4th quarter, only to see the Knights extend the lead again.

Jorden Schoen and Ian Kresin scored 13 points each to lead the Knights attack.  The Warriors were led by Colton Walters with 12 points and 12 rebounds in what was his finest game to date.  Dante Peterson scored 11 points, Ethan Kennedy added 11 points, Gus Rice scored 4 points and Kye Chase scored 2 points as all 5 starters scored in the same contest for the 1st time this year.  3 Warriors in double figures was a 1st for this year as well.  Adam Hauck and Shane Williams came off the bench and played well, but didn’t score.

“I was happy with our effort after the Thanksgiving lay-off but we still need to improve on defense.  Also, we were 12 of 35 in the paint on the night and that is both good and bad news, 35 shots in there is really good, but we need to make a higher percentage of them.  The effort was there tonight though, and I was happy with that.  If we keep improving and don’t fall back, we will win some more games this year!” Quoted Warrior Coach Rick Hatfield.

The trend continued in the B – Game, the Warriors lost a close one.  This time it was 11 – 10.  Jackson Hardy led the Knights with 4 points.  The Warriors were led by Colton Walters with 6 points and Adam Hauck scored 4 points.  The Warriors were leading when Hardy scored with about 25 seconds left on the clock.  The Warriors did get a shot up, but it didn’t go in and Lakeside was able to run out the clock.

The Warriors are a home again on Thursday against Tescott.  Games start a 4:00 PM.
