Warriors Meet Grizzly Fate

In the aftermath of the Warriors’ 78-6 defeat at the paws of the Rock Hills Grizzlies one needs hardly go into great depths of analysis; the victorious squad was stronger, faster, more numerous, and fiercer.  One might examine the difficulties of properly defending option football or of establishing the run against physically superior players, but those would be indulgent and, more importantly, distracting.  A program only defeats one such as Rock Hills by elevating itself as a program, through the efforts of every part of the team, on the field and off.

One happy note of this contest (small consolation, certainly) was that the Warriors managed to score against the Grizzlies for the first time since 2016; Dusty Mason connected with Nevyn “14-karat” Gold for a 44-yard catch-and-run for a touchdown.

Mason lead the ground game with 27 yards on four carries; Cody MacLean gained 24 on 12 attempts; Bryson Schmidt picked up five on five.  Mason was 2 of 13 passing for 54 yards, one touchdown and one interception.  Gold hauled in both completions for 54 yards.  Tackles and assists were as follow: Gabe Rice 4/1, Evan Custer 2/3, Mason 2/1, MacLean 1/2, Gold 1/1, and Schmidt 0/1.

The Warriors travel to Linn this Friday to take on the Bulldogs in a six-man contest.
