XC Runs at Washington

by Ryan Perkins

September 17, 2019

The running Warriors finally had a full squad participating in the Washington Country Cross Country meet on Thursday, September 12th. Things got started off with the girl’s race. Peyton Walters ran a fantastic race. It was her first time running a 5K or 3.1 miles and broke her goal for the day by a minute. She ended up getting 26th place, but they only awarded 25 medals. This has now allowed her to set a new goal for the year.

On the boy’s side for the first time all year we had a team, which in 1A is four runners. To get things started off, Dusty Mason came in 28th place. To follow him, Levi Cool running his first race in High School Cross County set a goal for himself and beat it. He wanted to run with Senior Nevyn Gold and did just that. They both finished around 27 minutes. Lucas Jamison running in his first 5K improved from his 2-mile mark time from a week ago. He ran better and he said, “it felt better with the temperature around 82 not up around 100” in which I think everyone would agree with. Overall the running Warriors did a great job and we look forward to this week’s meet at Bennington.
