Warriors Get Two Into State Golf
Brayton & DeMars Qualify for State

Grady Brayton and Kyle DeMars earned their way into the State Sand Greens Championships next Monday (May 23, 2011). On a beautiful day in Leonardville all the golfers seemed to struggle a little with the course, but we did have a fly-over by a B-17 and the weather was perfect for getting a sun tan or a burn!
Grady Brayton shot an 88 and tied for 10th and won the play-off to gain the 10th place metal. Kyle DeMars shot 94 to finish 14th over all and secure a spot in state as well, it was Kyle's best finish and score of the year so far. Cody Denio shot 100 to miss state by 1 place and he placed 17th overall and Steven Mahin shot 101 to finish 2 places out of state and placed 18th overall. Cy Schmidt shot a 107 for 23rd place, Garrett Redden shot 121 for 25th place in his first varsity action ever, and Braydon Prochaska had a tough day shooting 137 for 27th place. Remember that Cody and Steven played for Miltonvale and the other 5 golfers played for Glasco. The state divides Miltonvale and Glasco up for Regional's similar to what they do in track.
"It was a beautiful day to play golf, but we had a tough time with Leonardville's course. The out of bounds is all on the right side of the course, so if you slice at all your going to knock it out of bounds. It is really hard for high school kids to make that adjustment, so a lot of balls headed out of bounds, thus, the higher scores. I was really happy for our two state bound golfers, you work all year for a chance to play in the state tournament and now two of our golfers have that opportunity. This is a great opportunity for both of our guys." Said Southern Cloud Head Coach Rick Hatfield.

Warrior Notes - The State Grass Greens Tournament will be held at Yates Center on May 23, 2011 The starting time is 10 AM. Grady Brayton is playing in his 2nd State Tournament and was 20th medalist last year, and Kyle DeMars is playing in his 1st State Tournament.
