The Southern Cloud Warriors Golf Team is beginning to show signs of improvement. The Warriors were in action Tuesday at the Rock Hills Invitational at Mankato. While their team place didn't go up, a lot of their players shot their personal low rounds. In the A team, Grady Brayton took 9th place medal with an 84. Cy Schmidt shot his best round of the year with a 98 for 22nd. Cody Denio shot his best round of the year with a 101 for 26th place, and Braydon Prochaska played varsity for the 1st time and shot a 117 for 34th place.
In the team competition Southern Cloud placed 6th with a score of 400. The team break down was as follows:
Rock Hills - 329
Riley County - 348
Sylvan - Lucas - 354
Lakeside - 366
Pike Valley - 385
Southern Cloud - 400
Tipton - 259 (Only 3 players)
The tournament was won by Karl Zerfas with a 77. Adam Horn also shot a 77, but lost in the play-off to Zerfas.
"I was really proud of the guys, they went out and tried hard and did improve their scores. That is what we have to do, just keep practicing and learning how to play the game and not make mistakes that cost you a lot of strokes." Said Warrior Coach Rick Hatfield.
In the B action, Garrett Redden improved over 10 strokes from last week and shot a 61 for 12th place. Aaleb Miller had a personal best 73 for 14th place, and Dana Heidrick also improved by 9 strokes and shot 75 for 16th place.
