The Southern Cloud Warriors Golf Team got off to a rough start on Thursday at Beloit in the St. Johns Invitational. The wind was blowing really hard, the meet was shortened to 9 holes from the planned 18 holes, and lightning finally called a halt to the proceedings. The scores were pretty high due to all the weather problems.
Rock Hills won the event with a 202, Tipton placed 2nd with a 235, Pike Valley placed third with a 257, Southern Cloud placed 4th with a 262, and Lakeside only had 3 players, so they had no team score for 5th place.
Grady Brayton was the only Warrior to medal, he placed 10th with a 57. Kyle DeMars place 16th with a 65, Steven Mahin placed 17th with a 67, Cy Schmidt placed 21st with a 72, and Cody Denio placed 22nd with a 74. Adam Horn of Rock Hill place first in the meet with a 47.
"I thought we did okay, considering the conditions, but we have to get tougher and focus better. We struggled with our putting and I think the weather really bothered us as well. We have our own meet coming up next week and we want to give a better showing." Said Warrior Coach Rick Hatfield
