Five Warriors Qualify for State

     Catherine Wallace, Bryanna Cool, Nicole Demars, Zach Demars and Chase Gumm all punched there ticket to Wichita by placing in the top four at the Regional track and field meet held at Rock Hills High School.  It has been a long season but the most successful season in the past five years for the Warrior Track and Field Program.  Hard work and dedication has propelled five athletes to the country’s biggest high school track and field meet held at Cessna Stadium on the Campus of Wichita State University.  Catherine Wallace, Bryanna Cool and Nicole Demars all qualified in two events and Zach Demars and Chase Gumm Qualified in one event. 

      Catherine placed second in the long jump with a jump of 15 feet 8.5 inches and also qualified in the 100m hurdles, placing fourth with a time of 17.10 seconds.  This is Catherine’s third trip to the state meet and she is looking to bring home some hardware this time.  Catherine made the state meet her freshmen, and junior years.

     Bryanna Cool is making her second trip to the state meet and she also qualified for two events and was our only Regional Champion. Bryanna won the triple jump with a jump of 34 feet 2.25 inches and took third in the long jump with a jump of 15 feet 8 inches.  Bryanna qualified for last years meet and narrowly missed the finals for the triple jump. She is also looking to bring home at least one medal in this years meet.

     Zach Demars is making his second trip to state but in a different event this time.  Zach placed fifth in last years triple jump but made it this year in the long jump.  Zach jumped his personal best 21 feet 1 inch and placed fourth in a loaded long jump.  Zach is looking to be a two time medallist and at the state meet anything can happen.

     Chase Gumm will be making his first trip to the state meet. Chase placed third in the javelin with a personal best throw of 161 feet 7 inches.  Chase was in fifth place going into his last throw when he popped a nice throw that moved him all the way into third place.

     Nicole Demars will also be making her first trip to the state meet and she qualified in two events as well.  Nicole placed fourth in the high jump where she jumped 4 feet 10 inches.  She also qualified in the 300m hurdles placing third with a time of 49.85 seconds.

 

Congratulations to the state qualifiers: Nicole, Catherine, Zach, Chase and Bryanna. Good luck at the state meet.
