Demars and Cool Bring Home State Medals

by Tom Flax

June 01, 2010

Bryanna Cool and Zach Demars brought home fourth and fifth place state medals this past weekend from the state track and field championship. Cool medaled in the 1A Triple Jump and Demars medaled in the 1A Long Jump. Cool jumped a personal best 34 feet 11 and three quarter inches to place fourth in the competition. Cool has had a tremendous year and this was icing on the cake. Cool’s jump best jump was the farthest of the season and it could not have come at a better time. This jump is to my knowledge the best women’s triple jump in Southern Cloud History.

Zach Demars also brought home a medal for the second straight year. Demars added to his state medal collection with a fifth place finish in the long jump. Demars was sitting eighth going into finals and on his last jump he popped his best of the day with a 20 feet 7 inch jump. Demars placed fifth last year at state in the triple jump. This capped another great year for Demars.

Catherine Wallace, Chase Gumm and Nicole Demars also participated in the state meet but did not place in the top seven. It has been a great year for the Warrior Track and Field Team and their hard work this past season definitely paid off. Congratulations to the state placers and the state qualifiers on a great year.
