PTL Tournament Results

The Southern Cloud Braves lost to the Rock Hills Grizzlies in the 3rd place game of the PTL Tournament on Monday evening. The final score was 23 - 9. The Grizzlies used a 12 - 1 run in the final quarter to secure the victory in what had been a tight defensive battle up to that point. The Braves never found their shooting touch in this game. After shooting much better in recent games, the Braves couldn't find the basket in this contest. Austin Pelkey scored 3 points for the Braves and Levi Richardson scored 6 points to lead the Braves in scoring. They were the only two Braves to score. The Braves were a combined 4 for 44 for 10% shooting on the night.
Grant Davis of Rock Hills led the scoring for the night with 9 points.
"Give the Grizzlies credit, they got us to take some bad shots and some rushed shots and it paid off for them, but truth be told, we had no legs on this night, we missed a lot of shots that we usually make. When you have tired legs, you don't shoot well and we looked tired out there tonight. I honestly don't know why, I thought the extra days of rest (this game was supposed to be played on Saturday) would help us, but it seemed to take us out of our rhythm and we really struggled on offense. I hurt for our 8th graders, I wanted them to go out on a better note, they have meant a lot to Coach Stein and me personally, and a lot to our program. I wish them nothing but success in high school." Quoted Braves Coach Rick Hatfield.
Braves Notes: The Braves end the year 5 - 9. 8th graders on this years squad were Austin Pelkey, Levi Richardson, Eli Heller, Dakota Mason, Raemon Flores, Kyle Fowler, Connor Graham, and Tyler Dennis.
The Braves would like to thank Mr. Perkins, Mrs. Wallace, Mr. Blochlinger, the staffs and teachers of both schools, the parents, and students of Southern Cloud for all their support over the year. Your support is deeply appreciated by the coaches and players of the Southern Cloud Braves. We hope to see all of you again next year for more Braves Basketball.
