JH football blanked by Thunder Ridge

by Tyler Williams

September 30, 2018

For the second week in a row, the junior high football Warriors started a game with only six players able to play against a team that had over fifteen.  Though the team had some moments in the contest, they could not reach the end zone as they were blanked and mercy ruled, 46-0, to the visiting Longhorns of Thunder Ridge.

The highlights of the day involved converting on three 4th and Long (7 or more yards to gain) plays, earning a first down against the best defense the team had seen all season.  Two of the plays were jailbreak screens from Bryson Schmidt to Lucas Jamison where Jamison was able to catch the quick screen and get past the first down marker.  The other conversion came on a gimmick play where the team was spread out in a 2x2 formation; Schmidt faked a jet handoff to Levi Cool and then found an opening and gained the necessary yardage to keep the drive alive.

The loss drops the Warriors to 1-4 on the season, with the final home game against the St. John’s/Tipton Blujays coming up on October 4.  Kickoff will be at 6:00.
