Time Marches On

By: Mr. John Zeltwanger

What a fast moving semester it has been this year! Teachers, students, parents and staff have made adjustments and the New Year is upon us. Just a couple of notes on things that have transpired: seniors and parents have to each log in to and get your own personal account, in order to fill out your  portion of the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) if your child is making plans to attend a post-secondary institution.  There were many internal changes made in the online format this year and it just came out in December. This is for qualifying students to receive grant monies that do not have to be repaid.  The actual online process has been made very user friendly. If you need assistance, the best people to help you are those in the financial aid office of the vocational or technical college, community college or university where you plan to attend.  Please go to www.usa.gov/fafsa to apply.

Students K-12 were awarded  gift cards throughout this fall from numerous fast food restaurants in the area, helping us celebrate red ribbon week, anti-bullying and positive choices. As we reached our Christmas break, we were once again afforded the opportunity to distribute gift bags to each student. This year the jr/high school decorated bags for the elementary students and the elementary students decorated bags for the jr/high school students.  Each student received food, socks, stocking caps, gloves, hygiene products, snacks and a blanket to take home for the holidays. This could not be done without our awesome staff, generous private donors and fantastic area businesses contributing to such a great cause. Wishing everyone a wonderful holiday season!
