Writing about Thanksgiving

     The second graders were given a writing assignment about Thanksgiving.  They were to write about what they know about the first Thanksgiving and how it came about with the indians and the pilgrims.  These are the stories they created. 

 

 

The First Thanksgiving

            Once upon a time the pilgrims sailed on the Mayflower west across the sea.  They found land and met the Indians.  They had a party for Thanksgiving.  Then the pilgrims had supper with the Indians.  So they had a Happy Thanksgiving. The End.

            Thanksgiving is a very special holiday.  On Thanksgiving, the Indians met the Pilgrims. They had a big meal.  The Pilgrims have been dead for 100 years long.

            Thanksgiving is an important day that we spend time with our family.  The Indians found land before the pilgrims.  We eat turkey at Thanksgiving.  The pilgrims eat with the Indians on Thanksgiving.  We have a big meal for Thanksgiving with potatoes.
