Third Grade Enjoys New Subjects
by Kala Blochlinger

The third graders at Glasco Elementary have been hard at work these first few weeks of school. We welcomed two new students to our room-Violet Belt and Dakota Davis. They were happy to see one of their former students back too-Paden Nosker. Our class now has 12 students, 4 boys and 8 girls.
In math we just
finished our unit on addition and are ready to take our test.
Everyday we have been taking time tests and are excited about our
progress from the first day of school.
We have been studying matter and its properties and changes in
matter. We have enjoyed our experiments and are planning to bake
bread to see a physical change.
We are reading a story about the Olympic Games this week which will finish our theme called Something Special. It is fun to read about all the athletes and their accomplishments.
In our Shurley Method English we have learned about subject nouns, verbs, adverbs, adjectives, article adjectives, simple subjects and predicates, complete subjects and predicates, synonyms, antonyms, homonyms and kinds of sentences. We have had fun singing all of the jingles that help us to understand everything we are doing!
