It’s the New Year and we are off to a busy start once again in business and computer classes. The Computer Applications class continues to forge ahead! The class has completed their reviews in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint and is now working in Excel. Later this semester, the students will be working in Microsoft Access, a database program.
In Web Design, the students have been continuing to learn more about Microsoft FrontPage. Soon the students will be tackling some teacher pages and then in the future, hopefully the students will be adding pages to the new school website at www.sc334.org. The word processing class has moved on from Microsoft Word to PowerPoint – a program that creates slideshows.
The 8th grade class is taking Keyboarding. The students continue to learn the touch-type technique - which is the proper keyboarding technique, how to sit at the computer, and increasing their speed and accuracy. Currently most of the students are still typing lessons in MicroType Pro. Morgan Cool, Molly Schmidt, and Jordin Stein have completed the entire MicroType Pro program and received completion certificates!
The In House Training students are busy doing a variety of projects. The students have been busy this winter with basketball programs. Soon we will begin working on the 8th grade PowerPoint for graduation. We also can do a variety of projects for anyone in the community. Please feel free to give me a call-at the school-if there is something that we can do for you! I really appreciate being able to ask them to do something and I know that it will get done!
In Accounting 1, last semester the students learned the basics of the accounting equation and all the parts of the accounting cycle. This semester the students are starting a new unit – Accounting for a Merchandising Business Organized as a Partnership. Along with many if the things they learned last semester, they will also be responsible for payroll accounting, taxes, and other reports.
