The Southern Cloud Warrior Football team opened its 2010 football season with a 26 to zero shutout of Frankfort Friday September 3rd. The Warriors got off to a slow start and did not score in the first quarter but in the second quarter they reeled off three scores to take a 20-0 lead at half. The offensive line paved the way for two of the three first half scores that came by way of running the ball. Chase Gumm and Zach Demars each had a rushing TD and Gumm hooked up with Demars for the last score through the air. The last score again was through the air as Gumm hooked up with Demars early in the fourth quarter. The Warriors, as a team, rushed for 228 yards and passed for 92 yards. The Line did a great job not allowing hardly any negative plays and allowing the backs and receivers chances to get to the open field and make plays.
Defensively the Warriors Pitched there first shutout in at least six years. The defensive line held there own against a big Frankfort front line which allowed the middle of the Warrior Defense to do there job. Derek Revell, Chase Gumm and Zach Demars led the defense. It was a total team effort and all the players that got on the field held their position and contributed to the shutout.
The next opponent for the Warriors is the St. Johns-Tipton Bluejays and the game will be played at Beloit.
