Lady Warriors Win One - Lose One

LADY WARRIORS LOSE TO LADY EAGLES

The Lady Warriors step outside the league to take on the Clifton-Clyde Lady Eagles on a Tuesday, February 4. The Lady Warriors had a hard time getting the ball to go through the goal, like it had a lid on it.The Lady Warriors and Lady Eagles played a pretty even first quarter, with the Lady Eagles up four, 7-3. The Lady Warriors continued to struggle scoring in the second quarter and were outscored 13-8. They Lady Eagles lead at half time, 20-11. In the third quarter the Lady Warriors finally found the basket. The Lady Warriors and Lady Eagles followed the first quarter scoring, with the Lady Eagles outscoring the Lady Warriors by two in the third. Giving the Lady Eagles a commanding lead of 38-27. The Lady Eagles took over in the fourth quarter outscoring the Lady Warriors 13-7.  The Lady Warriors ran out of gas in the fourth quarter to lose 51-34.   The girls played hard all the way to the end.  The Lady Warriors shot 34% from the floor for the night, making 114 out of 41 tries. The Lady Warriors only made 3 out of 6 free throws, while the Lady Eagles made 8 out of 12 free throws.

 

Makenna Comstock led the Lady Warriors in scoring with 16 points, with 12 of them in the second half.  Braya Darnall had 6 points. Athina Liby added 4 points. Shealynn McMillan and Hana Cool added another 3 points each. Rael Beals had 2 points. Leading the way rebounding the basketball was Makenna with 4, followed by Shea, Hana, & Braya with 3 rebounds apiece. Makenna, Shea, and Athina had 2 assists each.

 

SC LADY WARRIORS TRAVELS TO CHASE

On Friday, February 7, 2020, the Southern Cloud Lady Warriors made the long trip to take on the Lady Chase Kats. The Kats came out and took an early lead and kept the Lady Warriors at bay for a 7-5 first quarter lead.  The Lady Warriors came out in the second quarter, played stronger defense, outscoring the Lady Kats 15-10, giving the Lady Warriors a 25-24 halftime lead. The Lady Warriors came out after the half time and outscored the Lady Kats 11-9 to give the Lady Warriors a narrow to 5 point third quarter led, giving the Lady Warriors 5 point led going into the fourth quarter.  In the final quarter, the Lady Warriors outscored the Lady Kats 22-13, giving the Lady Warriors a win by a score of 53-39.

 

Leading the way with a season high 20 points was Makenna Comstock, followed by Shealynn McMillan with 9 points. Athina Liby and Braya Darnall had 8 points each. Hana Cool added another 4 points. Finishing out the scoring was Rael Beals and Mallory Bellows with 2 points each.  Shea had 4 rebounds followed by Makenna, Rael, and Braya with 3 rebounds each.  Shea had a game high 5 assists. The Lady Warriors shot 78% from the free throw line making 14 out of 18.
