LADY WARRIORS WIN AT HOME

 

On Monday, February 17, the Lady Warriors hosted the Natoma Lady Tigers for a makeup game from January 17. The Lady Warriors got off to a great start taking a 15-0 first quarter lead.  The Lady Warriors came out in the second quarter subbing players and outscoring the Lady Tigers 6-2. The Lady Warriors led at half time, 21-2. In the third quarter the Lady Tigers made it a closer game scoring 8 points to the 11 points for the Lady Warriors, to find themselves ahead by 22 points going into the fourth quarter. The Lady Warriors owned the fourth quarter outscoring the Lady Tigers 10-4.  The Lady Warriors got the win 42-14. Every girl got a lot of playing time and played hard all the way to the end.  The Lady Warriors shot 33% from the floor for the night, making 15 out of 45 tries. The Lady Warriors made only 12 out of 19 free throws.

 

Rael Beals led the Lady Warriors in scoring with a season high 10 points.  Shealynn McMillan had 9 points, Braya Darnall and Makenna Comstock each added 6 & 5 points. Athina Liby had 4 points, followed by Hana Cool and Peyton Walters adding 3 points each. Finishing out the scoring was Te’a Kennedy with 2 points. Leading the way rebounding the basketball was Hana with 4, followed by Braya and Rael with 3 rebounds each. The Lady Warriors had 13 steals and only turned the ball over 12 times for the night.

 

There was no JV game due to the low number of Natoma girls.

 

LADY WARRIORS BATTLE THE GRIZZLIES

 

The Lady Warriors traveled north to take on the Mankato - Rock Hills Lady Grizzlies on February 18, 2020.  Both teams got off to a slow start with the Lady Warriors outscoring the Lady Grizzlies 10-8 in the first quarter.  The Lady Grizzlies came out and outscored the Lady Warriors 12-9 giving the Grizzlies a 20-19 halftime lead. The Lady Warriors came out and battled the Grizzlies to a 7-6 quarter, the Lady Warriors were tied with the Lady Grizzlies 26 all at the conclusion of the 3rd quarter.  In the final quarter, the Lady Warriors outscored the Lady Grizzlies by 4 points giving the Lady Warriors a win of 39-35. Makenna Comstock made 3 out of 4 free throws to seal the deal in the final seconds. This brings the Lady Warriors varsity record to 11-9.

 

Leading the way with 18 points was Makenna Comstock. Followed by Shealynn McMillan with 6 points. Athina Liby added another 5 points. Hana Cool and Braya Darnall had 4 points each. Finishing with 2 points was Rael Beals.  Makenna and Rael had 6 rebounds each.  Braya and Shea had a game high 2 assists each.

 

LADY WARRIORS WIN LAST REGULAR SEASON GAME

 

The Southern Cloud Lady Warriors traveled south to take on the Tescott Lady Trojans February 21, 2020.  The Lady Warriors came out on Tescott’s senior night and played a great basketball game. The 2 Varsity Seniors (Makenna Comstock and Te’a Kennedy) played their last regular season game. The Lady Warriors found themselves digging their way out of a hole. The Lady Warriors trailed the Lady Trojans 7-2 after the first quarter.  The second quarter the Lady Warriors hit fire and scored 16 points to the Lady Trojans 7 points. Giving the Lady Warriors an 18-14 halftime lead. The Lady Warriors came out in their normal second half fashion, outscoring the Lady Trojans 7-4, and leading at the conclusion of the 3rd quarter 25-18.  In the final quarter, the Lady Warriors put it into cruise control. The home team scored 12 points to the visitors 8, giving the Southern Cloud Lady Warriors their twelfth win of the season with a final score of 33-30.

 

Leading the way with 13 points was Shealynn McMillan.  Followed by Makenna Comstock with 10 points. Finishing with 8 points was Braya Darnall. Rounding out the scoring was Hana Cool with 2 points. Hana and Braya had 6 rebounds each.  Athina Liby had 4 rebounds followed by the Shea and Makenna with 2 rebounds each. Shea and Hana had game high 3 assists. The Lady Warriors had 10 steals for the game.

 

There was no JV game due to the low number of Tescott girls.
