Lady Warriors Take on Tough Opponents

The Lady Warriors hosted the Sylvan-Lucas Lady Mustangs on Tuesday night, January 28th.  The Lady Warriors came out to take a lead. The Lady Warriors were up 6-2 after the first quarter.  Things got better in the second quarter for both teams, the Lady Mustangs outscored the Lady Warriors 13-10. The Lady Warriors were up by one at halftime, 16-15.  The Lady Warriors forgot to come out of the locker room after half time, being outscored 16-8.  The Lady Mustangs took a lead of 31-24 after three quarters. The final quarter the Lady Warriors came to take the game shooting threes and outscored by the Mustangs 19-14.  The final score was Lady Mustangs 45 – Lady Warriors 43. The Lady Warriors continued to play hard till the end.


Leading the way scoring for the Lady Warriors was Shea McMillan with 22 points including six threes. Followed by Makenna Comstock with 8 points. Braya Darnall added another 5 points, followed by Athina Liby and Hana Cool scoring 4 points each. Athina had 8 rebounds, with Hana adding another 4 rebounds.  The Lady Warriors had 9 assists for the night, with Makenna having 3 of them.


The Lady Warriors JV finally got to play 2 quarters. The first quarter found the Lady Warriors and Lady Mustangs tied at 5 points. The second quarter the Lady Mustangs outscored the Lady Warriors by a point giving the Lady Mustangs a one-point win, 11-10. Leading the way for the JV was Braya Darnall with 3 points. Tea Kennedy, Rael Beals, and Mallory Bellows added 2 points each. Jessica Thurston had one point to round out the scoring.  



The Lady Warriors hosted the number 6 ranked 1A girls team in the state on January 31st .The Lady Warriors and Lady Longhorns came out playing very good, but the Lady Longhorns took a 16-11 first quarter lead. The two teams continued to battle, with the Lady Longhorns taking over in the second quarter outscoring the Lady Warriors 16-4. This giving the Lady Longhorns a 17 point lead at halftime 32-15.  The Lady Longhorns came out of the locker room to dominate the third quarter with great defense to outscore the Lady Warriors 13-4. The third quarter score ended with the Lady Longhorns leading by 26, 45-19.  The final quarter, the Lady Longhorns outscored the Lady Warriors 11-6.  The final score was Lady Warriors 25 – Lady Longhorns 45. The Lady Warriors continued to work hard all the way to the end. The Lady Warriors struggled on the offensive end.


Leading the way scoring for the Lady Warriors was Makenna Comstock with 9 points followed by Rael Beals with 8 points Shea & Braya Darnall had 4 points each. The Lady Warriors had 18 defensive rebounds for the night, with Shea McMillan and Rael Beals having 6 and 5 rebounds each.
