Lady Warriors Lose a Heart Breaker in Double Overtime

On Tuesday, December 15, the Lady Warriors traveled east to play the Wakefield Lady Bombers.  The Lady Warriors struggled in the first quarter to trail 4-7. In the second quarter, the Lady Warriors woke up to find the basket. The Lady Warriors outscored the Lady Bombers 10-2 in the second quarter. The Lady Warriors lead 14-9 at half time. The third quarter wasn’t any better at scoring for either team. The Lady Bombers outscored the Lady Warriors 6-4, making the score 18-15 in favor of the Lady Warriors. The final quarter was fast and furious with the Lady Bombers outscoring the Lady Warriors18-16, sending the game into overtime. The Lady Warriors lost two starters from fouling out in the final quarter. After the first overtime both teams scored 2 points each, sending the game into the second overtime, with the Lady Bombers scoring 5 points to the Lady Warriors 2. Giving the Lady Bombers a hard fought win, with the final score 42-37.

 

The Lady Warriors made 12 out of 42 shots.  The Lady Warriors made 13 out of 20 free throws for the night. Leading the way for the Lady Warriors was Athina Liby with 13 points 7 rebounds, and 5 fouls. Shealynn McMillan had 10 points and 3 rebounds. Hana Cool added another 7 points and 5 rebounds. Rael Beals added 6 points and 7 rebounds. Braya Darnall had 1 point, 4 rebounds, and 5 fouls. Wakefield’s defense caused the Lady Warriors to turn over the ball 22 times.
