First Five Games Summary

by Morgan Cool

December 03, 2018

The Jr. High Lady Warriors (Bethany Demars, Kaycee Waite, Braya Darnall, Peyton Walters, Brianna Snively, Celsie Stein, and Anna Peterson) have had five games so far this season.

The first game ( Monday, November 5th) was at home against the Clifton-Clyde Eagles. The girls played a hard-fought game, but unfortunately, fell to the Eagles 20-25.

The second game of the season would have taken place in Wakefield, but due to  inclement weather, that game was called off and has not been rescheduled at this time.

The next home contest (Tuesday, November 13th) was against the St. John's-Tipton Blujays. Due to illness/injuries there were only five girls who played in the A-Team game. They played well and worked hard, but that wasn't enough to beat the Blujays; the Lady Warriors lost 15-25.

After a day of practice on Wednesday, the lady warriors were back in action on Thursday night against the Osborne Bulldogs. The girls fell behind early in the game (were down by 20 points at one time).  The girls tried to battle back but came up short losing the game 22-30.

The next game was at home against the Linn Bulldogs. This was a very well-played game. The girls were up by one point with just over two minutes left, but with Braya getting injured, the rest of the girls seemed to get flustered and started playing faster than they could handle and ended up losing 24-31.

This past Thursday (November 29th), the Lady Warriors traveled to Tescott to take on the Trojans. Our rebounding was phenomenal- on both ends of the court. They worked their tails off to get position so they could pull down the rebounds.  Outstanding rebounding coupled with fewer turnovers  paved the way for the Lady Warriors to secure their first win of the season! It was a good team win, and I was very proud of how hard they worked.

Prior to each A game, the B team plays two quarters. They are improving as the season goes on and have even won a few games. They listen well and try to transfer what they learn in practice to become better competitors during the game. The scores to the B team games were: Clifton-Clyde: 8-18, St. John's/Tipton: 9-4, Osborne: 4-14, Linn: 10-8, and Tescott: 4-6.
