First Seven Matches - 2019 Season

by Cathy Rice

October 21, 2019

JH VB Wins Season Opener (9/05/19)

The JH Lady Warriors defeated the Tescott Trojans to win their first game of the 2019 season.  Serving was the key in the win.  Bethany Demars served 10 in a row to boost the Warriors score to 19-7.  Georgia Rolph sealed the game serving the last three points.  The Warriors won 25-9 the first game.  The second game followed suit.  Consistent serving by Celsie Stein, 7 in a row, Piper Mathews and Georgia Rolph, 6 in a row each, led to a 25-9 win.

The B-team game followed, but did not result in a win.  Much experience was gained as it was the first game several girls had ever played.  The Warriors lost 20-25 and 14-25.

JH VB Hosts Rock Hills (9/12/19)

The Warriors hosted Rock Hills.  The ladies struggled returning serves the first game.  Two servers combined to serve 19 points against them.  The second game was better, but it was too little too late.  The Warriors lost in two 4-25 and 14-25.

The B-team also lost in two scores being 6-25 and 9-25.

JH VB versus Lakeside (9/19/19)

Southern Cloud JH hosted Lakeside.  It was an extremely close match which made for a hard loss.  The Warriors lost in three, 17-25, 25-18, and 14-16.

The B-team game was also very close, but unfortunately the Warriors lost this one also.  Scores were 24-26 and 23-25.

Lady Warriors (JH) Travel to Scandia (9/25/19)

The Warriors played Pike Valley at Scandia.  The Warriors won the first game 25-23, and then lost the second game 17-25.  SC played hard in the third game, but came up short losing 10-15.

The B-team won in three!  Anna Peterson, Bethany Demars, and Kyndra Chase served well to lead to a 25-23 first game win.  The second game the Warriors hit a wall and struggled to return serves.  They lost 12-25.  In the third game PV struggled to serve receive.  Anna Peterson served 7 points before the Panthers even got on the board.  The Warriors won 15-7.

JH Travels to Agra (10/03/19)

The Warriors traveled to Agra to play the Thunder Ridge Longhorns.  It was not a pleasant evening losing two games rapidly, 8-25 and 10-25.

The B-team also played and lost 7-25 and 14-25.

Hanover Tournament (10/07/19)

The Lady Warriors traveled to Hanover Monday, October 7th to compete in a 6 team tournament.  The Warriors began with playing Luckey.  The scores were 19-25 and 22-25.

Next they faced Hanover.  SC held their own against the home team only losing the first game by 5 points.  The bench helped us out as three non-starters stepped in to play.  The Warriors lost in two 20-25 and 15-25.

After a short break and change of gyms the Warriors played Linn.  Linn’s serving proved too much for us and we lost in two games. The scores were 16-25 and 12-25.

Three games in one day was a good learning experience as also was playing teams that are out of our league.  The night will serve us well in the future.

Warriors vs. St. Johns/Tipton (10/10/19)

The JH Lady Warriors were defeated in two games by the Blue Jays.  The Warriors struggled to receive serves, which made it difficult to survive the pass, set, and hit consistency of the Blue Jays.  The Warriors did improve in the net play and digging hit balls that will pay off in the future.  The final scores were 10-25 and 16-25.

The B-team beat the Blue Jays in three matches.  The scores were 25-22, 13-25, and 15-12
