JH Volleyball Wins Season Opener

Cathy Rice

September 04, 2020

The JH Lady Warriors opened their season Thursday, September 3, at Tescott.  The JH Warriors have 11 players this year.  Returning players are 8th graders Bethany Demars, Natalie Hauck, Anna Peterson, and Celsie Stein and 7th grader Kyndra Chase.  The team welcomes six newbies this year, 6th graders Jayden Howard, Alessia MacKay, Rayne Minor, Ellen Padgette, Lillian Rogers, and Emma Rice.

The A team took the court first and adjusted quickly to the new “Covid” rules.  Kyndra Chase had a terrific first game, serving 6 in a row to give the team a nice lead.  The rest of the team followed suit and served a good game.  Passing proved itself a fundamental key to victory.  The team passed fair for the first match of the year.  Balls near the net gave the team some trouble and will be something to work on before the next match.  The A team won in 3 games: 25-16, 22-25, and 25-19.

The B team was nervous as this was the first volleyball game ever for these 6th graders.  They did exceptional in that regard.  Serving gave the team a bit of trouble.  There is great potential with the skills this team has already and they will build more confidence and knowledge with each game played.   The B team lost this match in two games: 23-25 and 15-25.
