Warriors Fall to Eagles, Again

by Rick Hatfield

November 12, 2019

The Southern Cloud Warriors started out their season on Monday night much the same as last year, falling to the Clifton-Clyde Eagles 49 – 13.  The Warriors had a hard time scoring against the quicker Eagles.  This is a fine Eagles team with a lot of experience and it showed.  Drayden Reed scored 10 points and Trent Long scored 11 to lead all scorers, for the Eagles.  The Warriors were led by Gus Rice with 7 points, followed by Colton Walters with 4 points and Ethan Kennedy with 2 points.

“I felt like we did some things well, but we aren’t in good enough basketball shape yet, so we got tired and it showed in the 2nd half.  We are going to get better as the year goes on.  We have some size and we actually ran our offense well at times, we just didn’t make it pay off.  When you have tired legs, shots don’t fall.  We have to work at cutting down turnovers as well.  We had way to many.  We get a shot to play better on Thursday at home against Wakefield.  We will work the next couple of days at getting better.” Quoted Warrior Coach Rick Hatfield.

The Warrior B-Team also lost to the Eagles 21 –  0.  The Warriors struggled to get shots to fall even though they had some good opportunities.

The Warriors play at home on Thursday against the Wakefield Jets.  Game time is 4:00 PM.
