Lakeside Disappointment

by Rick Hatfield

January 17, 2020

The Southern Cloud Warriors had a bad shooting night against the Lakeside Knights on Thursday evening and suffered a 50 – 24 defeat.  Down by only 4 half way through the 2nd quarter the Warriors went ice cold and the Knights moved away for the victory.  Ian Kresin was almost unstoppable, scoring a game high 17 points and Kaden Goheen scored 10 for the Knights, who got scoring from 8 different players.

The Warriors were led by Gus Rice with 11 points and Ethan Kennedy with 8 points.  Dante Peterson was held to 3 points and Adam Hauck scored 2 points to round out the Warrior scoring.  Kye Chase did not score but did pull down a team high 9 rebounds.

“I thought we were a little flat.  The weather has hurt us a little, we really needed 3 practices this week to prepare and we only got 2 days, but other teams have had the same problem, so we just have to be better when we do practice and we need to come to each game with our game faces on.  Give Lakeside some credit, they played really well and deserved to win.”  Quoted Warrior Coach Rick Hatfield.

In the B-Game the Warriors won 14 – 8.  Hunter Albrecht and Gavin Naasz scored 2 each for the Knights and Gage Gradig added 4 points to the Knights cause.  The Warriors were led by Adam Hauck with 7 points, Dante Peterson scored 5 points and his brother Dashawn Peterson scored 2 points.

The Warriors conclude the regular season next Thursday at Rock Hill in Mankato.  Game times are set for 4 PM.
