Gratitude is just one word that describes the support given to the students and programs at Southern Cloud this year. Starting early in the year, students participated in anti-bullying activity and were given stadium cups, pencils, book markers and wrist bands to display positive character choices.  November continued with students from Glasco 7-12 and Miltonavale 7-12 schools winning food prizes and gift certificates for modeling respect, helpfulness, team attitude and overall kindness, bringing about a great school atmosphere.  Christmas time brought a generous gift bag for each student in Miltonvale, via local sponsorships.

Two students were selected to attend the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership seminar this summer, held on the campus of Kansas State University. HOBY is a nationally recognized program that helps youth develope leadership skills that they can take back to their local school and share with their classmates in bringing positive ideas for activities involving everyone.  This would not be possible without such outstanding community support.  A huge thank you goes out to Twin Valley Telephone Co., Glasco Sr. Citizens Center, Citizens State Bank & Trust, the Grittman Foundation, Miltonvale Sr. Citizens Center, Miltonvale Lions Club, Miltonvale Methodist Church, First National Bank of Hope, Concordia Walmart, and many others who quietly work behind the scenes throughout the school year.

Seniors should be busy completing local scholarship applications as well as many other late scholarships that continue to come in.  Admissions applications should also be completed and choices narrowed down to their post-secondary plans.   Also, all students will be able to share information about Xello at their 7-12 student led parent/teacher conferences.
