The First Two Weeks of First and Second Grade

Jerry Brooker

With the end of the first two weeks of a new school year, the students and staff are getting into the routines and daily activities. That is no exception for my First and Second grades class. I feel that my class has been incredibly open and flexible with the new schedules and the four-day school week.

We have had a busy couple of weeks and my class has handled everything without any concerns. They are all eager to learn and continue with their studies. While having two grade levels we still try to do many activities as a whole group and some of our discussions have been hilarious, enlightening, and encouraging. I am fortunate to have my six first graders and two second graders this year and we will all continue learning, growing, and most importantly, having fun!

This week, we are learning about different ways to be a good friend, helper, and a good citizen so I had my class draw pictures of their ideas of what they thought being a good person would look like. During this activity, we had great discussions, and we were all able to learn more about each other in class.
