Title 1 and the Junior High Are Still Fighting Through The Covid!

Oct. 27, 2021

(Miltonvale) This has been a better start to the year than last year when Covid–19 dominated everything.  This year things have been a little more normal, although I’m sometimes not sure what normal is!  The kids of Miltonvale are doing a really great job of fighting through Covid–19.  We still wear our masks on the bus, but we don’t use them as much in the classroom.

“Title 1” is off to a good start with everybody trying to get back into a normal routine after summer break, and we try  to improve our  learning.  “Fast Forward” has been going well.  The kids really seem to enjoy it and I am really proud of their efforts, both in Title 1, and Fast Forward.  They (the students) come right in and get busy.” said Mr. Hatfield.

At the junior high the kids are working on Kansas History in the 8th grade and Geography in the 7th grade.  They are doing well.  We are not doing any “Zoom Learning” at the present time. Hopefully we won’t have to.  I believe this makes it much easier to teach, it is much better for learning to have the kids in the classroom.

Junior High Football and Volleyball are now over and on Monday (Oct. 25, 2021) the Junior High started basketball.  The boys have 11 out at the present time, which is 1 less than they had last year.  Coach Hatfield is delighted that the boys didn’t drop in numbers, very much, from last year.  “I’m not sure how many girls are out for basketball, but I think it is about the same number as volleyball.  Cathy Rice is coaching them again this year, she does a great job.” added Coach Hatfield.  Our 1st game is scheduled for November 9th at Glasco against Linn.

Mr. Zeltwanger is again coaching the B teams for both the girls and the boys.  He does a great job and Cathy and I are happy to have him with us!
