This marks the beginning of my 25th year of teaching at Southern Cloud.  I have taught 7 – 12th grade vocal music at Miltonvale and Kindergarten through 12th grade music at Glasco.  Down through the years, I have also taught some of the grade school social studies classes, and helped with some of the grade school English and handwriting classes.

This year I am teaching Kindergarten through 12th grade music at Glasco and serve as the Title I teacher. I also am teaching 7th, 8th and 9th grade English. My BA in English from K-State has come in handy!  It’s a joy to watch the students learn and grow more and more each year.

The grade school music students are doing a lot of singing, playing our classroom instruments, writing some of their own music and even doing some folk dances.  The junior high and high school choirs are combined this year and that gives us a nice group of singers. They and the band will perform after the parade at the gazebo on Fun Day, October 7th.  The parade is at 10:30 and will perform right after that.

The English classes are keeping up their skills on grammar, doing a lot of reading, and writing every day.  To make spelling lessons more fun, a class score of 100 percent on the final test guarantees homemade brownies!

The grade school has been blessed by the donation of a new piano from Glasco native, Ms. Pat Jones. It’s a beautiful instrument and we are all enjoying using it every day.

We hope to see you at Fun Day!
