UNDEFEATED!

Braves Win Final Game Against Linn

by Rick Hatfield

October 15, 2009

The Southern Cloud Braves completed an undefeated season on Thursday night  before a good crowd at Linn.  The Braves won the contest 32 - 8 behind a great performance by Ryan Perkins who threw for 2 touchdowns and ran for 3 more scores.  This was a hard hitting contest from the start.  Rushing yards came hard, so the Braves went to the air and hit on to long scoring strikes from Perkins to Jason McDaniel, one of 54 yards and the other 73 yards.  The only Linn score came on a Jared Trumble 50 yard Kick-Off Return.

Both defenses were tough against the run in this one.  Jason McDaniels was held to his lowest rushing total of the year.  The Braves defense played well also, allowing Linn just 76 yards of total offense.  The big key on defense was turnovers.  The Braves suffered only one turnover and the Bulldogs had 6 turnovers on the night.  This was the telling statistic on the night.

"I was really proud of our kids tonight.  They really played hard.  It wasn't a pretty game, there were a lot of penalties, but it was so hard hitting that it made the game into kind of an ugly contest.  When we congratulated the Bulldogs, I think we both knew we had been in a hard hitting contest.  Our kids knew what was on the line tonight and the went out and took the game and achieved the undefeated season."  Said Braves Coach Rick Hatfield.

The tackle chart was led by Ryan Perkins with 9 tackles and an interception, Storm Myer added 8 tackles and a fumble recovery, Justin Pelkey had 7 tackles and a fumble recovery, Joel Jameson chipped in with 5 tackles and a fumble recovery, Braydon Prochaska, Jason McDaniel, and Jordin Stien had 3 tackles each, Dakota Cooper had 4 tackles and an interception, Lance Heller had 2 tackles, and Trey Bellows had 1 tackle and an interception.

Braves Notes:  This concludes the Braves football season for 2009.  The Braves are Undefeated PTL Champions for 2009.  The Braves are on a 9 game winning streak dating back to last year.  The Braves would like to thank all of the Parents, Fans, Students, Administrators, Custodians, and Teachers for all their hard work and support of Braves Football.  It is deeply appreciated.
