Thanksgiving Feast

by Samantha Trembath

November 26, 2019

The second, first and kindergarten had a Thanksgiving feast on the Tuesday before break. 2nd and kindergarten dressed as Native American’s and 1st grade dressed up as pilgrims. We all talked about things that we were thankful for. I heard a lot of family, friends and God. I am so very thankful for all of them. They truly make me grateful to come to work every morning. They are all so thoughtful and sweet.

We talked about how at the original feast they ate things like eels and beets and none of them thought those things sounded as good as turkey and mashed potatoes. I will have to agree with them. We got to munch on apples, rolls and popcorn. One of my favorite parts is when I read them the story of the brave little Indian and they have to do hand gestures to go with it. It is very fun and we all get a good laugh at the end. They really enjoyed the story about the turkey with different colored feathers and they would guess what color the turkey’s feathers were by rhyming with the word I said before. They are smart little turkeys.

Some parents and grandparents came to our fest as well as Mrs.Wallace. Mrs. Martin and I am so thankful that they could be there to share in the fun. The children and I had so much fun making our costumes and learning about the first thanksgiving. I hope we can make this a yearly tradition that the students will all treasure as precious memories and if they don’t remember I have pictures.
