SC Warriors vs Stockton

Warriors Travel to Stockton

The Southern Cloud Warriors started the season with 11 boys, 2 seniors (Dante Peterson & Gus Rice ) 2 juniors (Kye Chase & Dashawn Peterson) 2 sophomores (Logan Haley & Shane Williams) and 5 freshmen (Noah Demars, Kevin Iyescas-Angles, Cole Liby, Mark Paillet, & Ayden Williams).  The Warriors return only 3 starters and 1 other letter winner from the 2022-2023 state qualifying season.

The first game of the year was at Stockton. The Warriors came to play, scoring 12 points in the first quarter and held the Tigers to 7 points. The second quarter was a repeat of the first, with the Warriors outscoring the Tigers 12-7, giving the Warriors a 24-14 halftime lead. The second half saw more scoring, the third quarter saw the Warriors scoring 18 points to the Tigers 12 points. The final period the Warriors were without the two seniors, but the young Warriors continued to play hard and outscored the Tigers by 5, giving the Warriors their first win of the season 57-36.

Leading the way for the Warriors was Dante Peterson with 16 points, followed by Kye Chase and Mark Paillet with 15 and 13 points, respectively. Gus Rice had 6 points. Rounding out the scoring was Noah Demars with 5 and Logan Haley with 2.

Kye led the Warriors with 14 rebounds. Logan had 7 rebounds, with Cole Liby and Mark having 6 rebounds each. Logan had 4 assists and Dante added 3 more. The Warrior turned the ball over 16 times.

The JV team played two quarters at Stockton. The Warriors trailed after the first quarter 9-10, but came out the second quarter and outscored the Tigers 17-9 giving the Warriors a 26-19 win.

Leading the way for the Warriors was Mark Paillet with 13 points followed by Cole Liby with 9 points, and rounding out the scoring was Dashawn Peterson with 4 points.

The next games will be at the Tescott Tournament on December 4th, 5th, and 8th in Tescott. The Warriors will play at Wakefield on Tuesday December 12th,  and St. John’s of Beloit on Friday, December 15th in Glasco.
