Glasco Art

By: Ms. Heather Smith

Our spring semester started off a little rough with the weather, but we are kicking into high gear! Thank you to everyone who contributed bags, hangers, fabric, and decorative elements for the student's textile sculptures! The kids are having an absolute blast with them, and we will be getting their final touches and details put on soon.

On the topic of competitions, our annual HS Northern Plains League Art Show will be on display at the Osborne Public Library from the afternoon of Monday, March 4th to Tuesday, March 19th. If you use Facebook, the Osborne Public Library always does a wonderful job of posting pictures of the art show displays on their page if you are unable to make the trip to see the show in person. There will be an awards presentation on the morning of Wednesday, March 20th, and the artwork will be taken down at the conclusion of the ceremony. The high school students have been working hard on a diverse range of mediums right now to prepare for their art competitions this spring.

The older kids have had a little freedom to choose their current independent projects, so, several have been working on watercolor, graphite drawings, finishing printmaking projects, and preparing for chalk pastels and canvas work.

The K-6 students have been learning how to use oil and chalk pastels, and we will get to dabble in some painting projects later this spring.
