The Southern Cloud football team met the Panthers of Pike Valley last week.  A 38-0 first quarter in favor of the visiting cats left no doubt as to the ultimate victors of the contest; a pair of Warrior scores in the second quarter helped ameliorate the battered spirits of the host squad; Pike Valley put the game away in the third quarter by virtue of the mercy rule, 64-14.

Tony Duggin led the rushing attack with 88 yards on 17 attempts, notching both Southern Cloud touchdowns.  Bryson Schmidt carried five times for a loss of five; Dusty Mason logged two totes for minus-four.  Mason was 0-7 passing on the night with an interception.  The Panthers amassed 234 yards rushing with seven scores on the ground and 67 yards passing with two aerial touchdowns.  Tackles and assists were as follows: Gabe Rice 10/3, Evan Custer 6/3, Nevyn Gold 5/1, Mason 3/2, Levi Cool 2/1, Cody MacLean 2/0, Duggin 1/2, Schmidt 0/6.  The Warriors started the game with 10 players and finished with nine.

Southern Cloud travels to Beloit this Friday to take on the Blujays of St. John’s/Tipton.
