Warriors Fall to Tough Thunder Ridge Team

(9/29/22)

(Miltonvale) The Thunder Ridge Longhorns were just too athletic for the Southern Cloud Warriors on Thursday evening and won the game 52 – 6.  The Longhorn stats were not available but Brillon McDowell played an exceptional game for the Longhorns both on offense and defense.

The Warriors were hurt early in the game when their quarterback, Caden Stein, was sidelined with an ankle injury, but on a positive note, Mark Paillet stepped up in a leadership role and did a very good job leading the Warriors.  He was 6 of 8 for 97 yards in the game with no interceptions and no TD’s.  Cole Liby led the Warriors in rushing with 45 yards on 8 carries to lead the way in that department.

The tackle chart was again the problem for the Warriors.  Mark Paillet had 1 tackle and a pass defense, Ayden Williams had 1 tackle and a pass defense, Jaxon Kearn again led the Warriors with 2 tackles and 1 assist, Cole Liby had one tackle, and Noah Demars had 1 tackle and 1 assist.  The Warriors have got to get better in the number of tackles.

“I’m sorry to say we fell back a little today.  The Longhorns are a good group and we suffered a big loss when Caden went down, but that is when you have to step up, not step back.  We are going to practice hard this week and see if we can get better.  I was really proud of the job Mark did.  He filled in at QB really well.  I was also really proud of Denzil Smith.  He had to come in and play more than he is used to and at different positions and he did a good job!” quoted Warrior Coach Rick Hatfield.

The Warriors next play at home against St. Johns/Tipton at 6:00 PM on Thursday, the 6th of October.
