I just attended the annual KAEA Conference at the beginning of October, and, as always, I have come back energized with some incredible new ideas and projects to implement in my classroom! I have an awesome project plan in mind that was inspired by a session I participated in, so, if you have any of the following materials, please drop them off in the office at school! We are needing about 300 old metal hangers, a TON of plastic grocery bags (all welcome - they can have holes and tears in them!), decorative items the students can glue or stitch onto fabric such as glittery gems, broken jewelry, bows, or buttons, embroidery thread, a variety of sizes of metal needles, and a lot of scrap fabric - any pattern! For the fabric, that can also include felt or decorative trims, tassels, cord, etc. (see picture for examples). Having those extra items will really help them add cool details and embellishments to their projects! We will be starting this project in January, so, no rush bringing items in if you have things to go through! I love coming back from my conferences equipped with new knowledge and abilities to pass on to my students. Coming up next month, I will be taking some high school projects to enter into the Bethany College High School Art Show on Wednesday, November 1st. We are also going to finish our colored pencil projects soon and have plans to dabble with some charcoal and wood burning techniques this fall, so, there's much creativity to look forward to second quarter!
