The Southern Cloud Warrior Golf Team continued to improve on Tuesday, shooting their lowest team score of the year, 344, while finishing 4th in the Tipton Invitational.
Grady Brayton shot his best round of the year, a sparkling 73, to finish 2nd in the individual tournament, Jacob Palen of Tipton won the event with a 72. The Southern Cloud improvement didn't stop with Grady, Cy Schmitt shot his lowest round of the year, an 88, Steven Mahin also shot his lowest round of the year, a 90, they were followed by Braydon Prochaska with a 93, Kyle DeMars with his low round of the year with a 105, and Cody Denio with a 109.
"I was really proud of our efforts at Tipton, we got a really nice day without a lot of wind and took advantage of the nice conditions to go a lot lower. We were only 19 strokes behind the winning team score and that really made me happy. We go to regional's on Monday, and that will be a big day for us. Hopefully we can perform well and get some kids in state. Remember, Glasco and Miltonvale are divided up for regional's, kind of like they do for track, so Steve and Cody will play for Miltonvale, Grady, Cy, Brayton, Kyle, and Garrett Redden will play for Glasco." Said Warrior Coach Rick Hatfield.
