SC Warriors Golf Team Finishes Regular Season

The Southern Cloud Golf Team had their final regular season tournament at Tipton on Tuesday. The weather was still cool, but much better than on Friday at Leonardville. The Warriors finished 4th in the tournament with a score of 367. Tipton/St. John won the Invitational with a 308, followed by Rock Hills with a 333, Lucas Luray with a 351 for 3rd, S.C. with a 367 for 4th, and Lakeside rounded out the top 5 with a 389.
Grady Brayton continued to improve, shooting a 79 for 7th place. He becomes the 1st Southern Cloud golfer this year to shoot in the 70's. Tyler Pennell shot 87 for 13th, Justin Beals continues his improvement, shooting a 98, for 20th, Jake Ziolkowski shot a 103 for 23rd, and David Leonard shot a 117 for 28th.
"I was happy that we improved, but frankly, I felt we could have shot even lower and challenged for a team medal. We need to stay focused. We have Regionals on Monday and I really want the kids to play their best golf that day!" Said Warriors Coach Rick Hatfield.
In B action, Carrie Brayton shot 44 for 4th place, Kyle DeMars shot 47 for 7th place, Darien Bellows shot 49 for 8th place, Cy Schmidt shot 51 for 10th place, Steven Mahin shot 52 for 11th place, Cody Denio shot 63 for 13th place, Feodora Gebhardt shot 70 for 14th place, Aaleb Miller shot 85 for 17th place, and Tommy Pudge shot 88 for 18th place.
"I was really happy with the fact that we placed 4 people in the top 10 today. This course had a few holes you could score well on and some of our kids took advantage of that. I was really happy that we had so much interest in golf this year, and so many kids finished the year. I hope everybody comes back out next year!" Added Coach Hatfield.
Warrior Notes: The Warriors split in two for Regionals, the Glasco side will have 5 golfers going to Regionals and the Miltonvale side will have 4 golfers going this year. Glasco will have Grady Brayton, Tyler Pinnell, Jake Ziolkowski, Cy Schmidt, and Kyle DeMars going and the Miltonvale side will have David Leonard, Cody Denio, Justin Beals, and Steven Mahin competing. Regionals are at Leonardville on Monday, starting at 10:00 AM.
