Lady Warrior Volleyball

By: Coach Cathy Rice

The Lady Warriors have been busy the past two weeks.  They played a Tuesday night home match the 5th against Lakeside and Tescott.  They did not win but stayed in both games; final scores 19-25, 13-5, and 14-25, 18-25.  On the 9th they played in the Clifton-Clyde Invitational against Hanover (5-25, 7-25), Blue Valley (22-25, 11-25), St. Johns/Tipton (21-25, 16-25 ), and Lincoln (21-25, 16-25).  They did not win a match but saw some excellent volleyball and came close against Blue Valley and Lincoln. The following Tuesday the Warriors travelled to Tescott to play the Trojans and the Rock Hills Grizzlies.  They got off to a rough start against the Grizzlies losing 11-25, 12-25.  During the match against the Trojans they showed how flexible they were as we had a collision on the floor which left our setter unable to continue the match.  The ladies stepped and played hard almost winning the first game.  Final scores: 22-25, 15-25. On Saturday they travelled back to Tescott for another tournament.  They faced Bennington (4-25, 16-25); Ell-Saline (9-25, 12-25); and Pike Valley (22-25, 16-25).  Although they did not come out with a win their play improved tremendously throughout the day.  They continue to grow in skill and as a team, stepping up when needed, communicating and encouraging one another.

Although the outcomes have not been what they would like they get aces, digs, sets, and kills that are fun to watch.  They are learning to be tenacious and are ready to get a win.
