SC Volleyball at NPL Tournament

By: Coach Cathy Rice

Lady Warriors Win Two

The Lady Warriors high-school volleyball team played in Pool 3 at the NPL Tournament Saturday the 14th.  It was a long trip to Natoma, but worth it coming away with two wins.  The Warriors played Pike Valley first losing in three sets.  They got off to a rough start the first set having trouble serve receiving.  The second set they picked up their play, served well, and won.  They were not able to keep that momentum though and lost the third set.  Scores were: 16-25; 25-17; 17-25.  The next game, they  handily beat Tescott in two sets.  Final scores were: 25-13; 25-10. The Warriors last match was against the home team, Natoma.  The teams were well matched and both determined to win.  Natoma won the first set, but SC didn’t give up winning the second set.  The third set was long and hard fought with lots of balls chased down to be played and hit back and forth.  The Warriors showed tenacity and came out victorious.  Final scores were:  18-25; 25-22; 25-23.

The day was long and the girls played hard.  Leading servers were Kaycee Waite, Kyndra Chase, and Emma Rice.  Middle hitters Kaycee Waite and Kyndra Chase led with many hits and kills.  Outside hitters Bethany Demars, Anna Peterson, Emma Rice, and Jayden Howard hit strong all day.  Back row passers Georgia Rolph and Ellen Padgette kept busy getting passes up for setters Emma Rice and Bethany Demars.  The hard work and team effort put forth paid off for the Lady Warriors.  They will use what they have learned as they go in to their last week of play.
